How to Increase Your Website's Traffic for Free

There are millions of websites on the internet. How do you get your website to stand out? You could have the best content in the world on your website, but if it doesn’t have traffic to it, no one will see it. This is where most people will fall short. Learning how to increase your website’s traffic for free will give you an edge online. Many people who create a new website will resort to paid advertising to get their word out. You are more than welcome to strategies like that as well, but ads are here today and gone tomorrow, and methods discussed in this article will outlast any ad campaign.

We’re going to begin by stating a very simple fact that directly correlates with The Buoy Effect. If you want more traffic to your website, own more of the internet! If you’re currently not getting your desired traffic flow, ask yourself what content you have online that’s bringing people in. Do you have a few articles online, or a few thousand? Generally speaking, the person with more content on the internet is going to be getting more traffic in their niche, and essentially more money.

So, how do you own more of the internet? There are countless ways to spread your personal content across the internet (see Marketing Mastery), but one of the most popular forms is article marketing. Create articles or blogs, spread them across various websites (see Article Sites) and make sure you have backlinks for people to trace back to your website. You can also do this with videos (see Video Sites). So create content, follow organic SEO guidelines, and most importantly, remain consistent!

When creating content, make sure that you do your keyword research! Not doing this could allow you to spin your wheels online and get nowhere. See organic SEO guidelines for a brief introduction to keyword research. A program called Internet Income University offers Market Samurai, a keyword research generator. This could save you hours trying to find the right words to have in your content’s title. It all rides on what people are searching for, and making sure that your content shows up when they do. Even posting videos on YouTube can be strategically marketed with the right keywords. Do your research, and make sure that your content isn’t going to waste.

When you’ve learned how to increase your website’s traffic for free, you will have a powerful arsenal under you belt. Many people have this, but do not realize it because it takes time to see. They typically give up on their efforts far before the results are displayed. The return on investment is huge with free traffic methods, you just have to stick with it long enough to see those results. Follow what has been discussed here and watch your website gain a powerful stance online!

The Benefits of Starting a Personal Home-Based Business

85% of Americans would love to earn money from home. Many people hear about home-based businesses constantly, but don’t understand the concept enough to follow through with their curiosity. The benefits of starting a personal home-based business are numerous, personally appealing, and cater to a lifestyle that many people never get to experience.
There are four top reasons that most people don’t create their own home-based business. Four reasons that are rarely true and can all be avoided with the proper instruction and teaching.
  1. High investment financially.
  2. Too much time required.
  3. High risk with no payout.
  4. Complete lack of knowledge in the area.
These reasons are understandable, can happen, and have happened to many people. It’s sad to say, but there are likely more scams on the internet than actual income generating opportunities. That’s just how the internet works, and we’ve learned to deal with it. All four of these reasons can be false however, and easily corrected. You simply need the right opportunity, one that’s not focused on taking your money from you.

There are countless ways to make money on the internet. You can create your own product and market it, perform tasks online, offer writing services, the list goes on and on. The most lucrative and appealing form of internet income is network marketing, or multi-level marketing. This is not a pyramid scheme, cold-calling, or door-to-door work. It is legitimate cooperation with a business or company to represent their company/products/services to others. You create sales, and in turn get commission from those sales. Network marketing is nothing new, and has been around a very long time. The benefits of starting a home-based business utilize the internet along with network marketing and create an unlimited funnel of personal wealth. This could be MLM, affiliate marketing, a personal business, etc. The benefits discussed below apply to all.

The benefits of starting a personal home-based business:
  1. No boss (plan your own workday, monitor yourself, set priorities)
  2. No income ceiling (unlimited income potential)
  3. Self-satisfaction (you create the business, you get the credit)
  4. Work with people you like (no difficult coworkers, no office politics)
  5. Flexibility (work whenever you want)
  6. No commuting (save time and money)
  7. No office expense (quicker profit)
  8. Security (no layoffs, no downsizing)
  9. Tax deductions (home office, car expense, medical insurance, phone, entertainment, travel, education, etc)
  10. Better retirement plan (SEP IRA’s and Keoghs let you deduct a higher percent of business profit from your 401k)
Now the list could go on, but I’m sure you get the idea. You are the owner, the employee, and the CEO. You decide what to do, when you want, and how to do it. Do you want a website? Do you want to promote offline as well? It’s all up to you. Network marketing, or MLM, has some additional benefits that are worthy of mentioning as well.

Additional benefits to an MLM opportunity:
  1. Low start up cost: Start programs free, invest a little, or invest a lot. You determine what you’re paying. Most businesses take thousands of dollars in capital to begin.
  2. No expensive training: You can find all of the information and training to have a home-based business online. Just like any area of study, you will have to learn new things and be eager to better yourself in the area of home-based business.
  3. No administration hassles: You’re self employed, but you’re a rep for an established company which handles all the product selection research and development, shipping, warehouse, etc. Basically, they did all of the typical business hassles so that you don’t have to. This is an awesome thing.
  4. Keep your regular job: No one has to know that you’re working at home. If you’re not seeing income right away, nothing is making you quit your regular job. Until your “part time” income is high enough to replace it, you can manage both at once.
  5. No expensive tools necessary: A computer is all that you need. Your most critical tool is people skills, and you’ll learn those more in-depth along the way.
  6. Residual Income: You profit from the product purchases and sales of everyone in your group. Nothing is more important to your financial future than the residual income concept. It’s an aspect that makes MLM so unique and appealing.
Keep in mind that you can do anything your heart desires to make money online. I am simply highlighting the benefits of starting a personal home-based business for you to see the potential that it has for anyone, experienced or not. If you’re a complete beginner in online sales, a program called Internet Income University will teach you everything you need to know along the way, while helping you to earn money simultaneously. And it’s completely free. Even professional marketers have signed with this program because of the lucrative F.A.S.T. Income Plan they get you on.

If you like talking to people face to face, you like the idea of traditional network marketing. You enjoy that personal touch that you can add by conducting an in-person meeting with someone. Don’t get me wrong, you can still profit by marketing online at the same time, that’s the beauty of MLM, you can promote however you want! A top-notch fitness company, Team BeachBody, encourages both offline and online promotion. Discuss it over dinner, refer people to your personal web page for it, or promote it through your Facebook page, it’s all up to you.

The benefits of starting a personal home-based business are almost too many to discuss. It is a world that is literally at your fingertips, and ready to be used in a unique and personal way to generate even more income. You’re the boss. Now start your home-based business today.

Successful Networking Through Facebook

If you could advertise yourself on the 2nd most visited site on the internet, and for free, would you take the opportunity? It’s currently home to 750 million active users. Fifty percent of those users log on regularly, and the average user has well over 100 friends each. With all of these advantages, successful networking through Facebook could pay off greatly for you and your business.

Launched in early 2004, Facebook has changed the way that people socialize, communicate, and market online. It is a thriving hub of activity that serves a wide variety of uses depending on the user. It has become a place of business, commerce, and association for the everyday business person. It has also become the ultimate virtual party scene, scrapbook, and personal human resource. Successful networking through Facebook acknowledges and utilizes all of these aspects.

Before we discuss networking strategies, we must first establish how people view Facebook, its purposes, and how to conduct yourself properly in order for mass appeal. People view Facebook as a place to relax and hang out. This goes for business as well. When you use Facebook to advertise and market your business, remember that no one wants to listen to your sales pitch. No one wants to be sold, and people don’t want to think about spending money when they’re on Facebook. It’s simply not why they’re logged on. If you can realize and obey this principle, successful networking through Facebook will come naturally to you.

Whether you operate your business through your personal profile or a business page, there are some very simple rules to remember while on Facebook.

-       Enjoy yourself: Use Facebook to express yourself and your life. It’s a great tool that has limitless opportunities for expression, so make sure that you’re having fun and posting your content.

-       Connect with others: The entire point of social networks is to socialize! Make sure that you’re not so focused on your business that you’re missing out on networking and friendships. Networking is about cultivating relationships. Remember this and the sales will come to you.

-       Be real: Share your experiences, content, and statuses with others, and don’t be afraid to open up! You will attract far more associates by being yourself. If people feel comfortable and close to you, they are more apt to look into your business. Internet marketing focuses on attraction.

-       Don’t pitch your business: We will go further into this, but put simply, don’t be that guy. This applies anywhere. People don’t want to hear about your business before they even know your name. Your best strategy is to connect and make friends, and have business info available for perusal when your associates are interested.

To follow up the last statement, let’s use a style of Pareto’s Principle: the 80/20 Rule. You should, in general, spend 80% of your time socializing and building relationships on Facebook, and 20% (or less) marketing your business. Show interest in people. If you ask and show interest in what people do, they will subconsciously reciprocate the question back to you in time. That is your opportunity for successful networking through Facebook.

Imagine your Facebook experience just like a real social scene. You would never go around the party beginning conversations with your business opportunities. People would ignore you almost immediately. Show interest in others, practice timing and patience, and your business opportunity will get a chance to present itself. Remember to express interest in others first. People don’t care about anything until they know how much you care.
Facebook statuses are a fantastic way to get your business out in the public.

Following the 80/20 Rule, remember to post many of your statuses about your personal life, resources, or funny/interesting facts. When you do sprinkle your business into your statuses, consider subtlety. Maybe you can mention your business along with an event that happened that day, or talk about how your business affected someone in a positive way. It’s up to you to play around with statuses and be personable with them.

Groups are a great way to meet like-minded people and create a fan base on Facebook. There are groups for anything under the sun, and I can guarantee you’ll find something that fits your business. When you join a group, make sure that it’s one you like and are enthusiastic about. Remain active in the group and make sure that people know you’re a member there. You’ll see results from this. You can also create your own groups based on specific niches.

When you’re in a group and send a message, that message goes to every single group member individually. This is big, because nowhere else on Facebook can you mass market like this. Facebook strives to keep a relaxed and spam free environment, so as with your profile, proceed to message group members with caution. Don’t join a group and go straight for the messaging strategy.

If you have a page on Facebook, you may be struggling to get “likes” for it. This is a large obstacle for anyone with a new group. Make sure you follow strategies discussed above to appeal to people and get their desire for more information from you. Just like subscribing to a channel on YouTube, they will “like” your page to receive more of your information on their news feed in the future.

Standing out on someone’s news feed requires a few simple principles. People’s “Top News” relies on social buzz. Things will appear high on top news that have numerous comments and likes. Your job is to post content that is easily likeable and creates conversation. This is easier said than done at first, but you will get the hang of it. It’s not a bad idea to ask some of your friends to help you out in this area when you are beginning; it can do wonders. Once your group gets going, things will come easier and social buzz will be drawn to your page naturally if you’re applying these methods.

Lastly with successful networking through Facebook, we have Pay Per Click Ads. If you are against spending anything on your business, it’s understandable, and you can scroll to the end of this article. However, Facebook’s PPC program has made the news countless times for a reason. Their regime is the most targeted and specific advertising opportunity that exists to such a massive percentage of the world. Where else does someone give you their age, interests, schooling, and so on?
Very similar to Google AdWords, Yahoo, and Bing, Facebook PPC is based on results and allows you to set your own plan and strategy. Facebook’s PPC differs from other advertising resources by targeting interests and likes, not keywords. It’s something to adjust to, but you will get the hang of it easily. When you advertise on Facebook, you typically can’t send people anywhere but to your page. Facebook has been cracking down on affiliate links and so forth, and has tightened policies as to where your links lead customers.

Successful networking through Facebook can greatly determine your future business outcome. Being the massive social giant that it has become, everyone is wanting to learn how to use it properly. Apply these methods and principles to your online business and yourself, and you will find people on Facebook to be attracted to you and your business.

Tweeting for Profits

Twitter is a micro-blogging social network that has been growing extensively since it debuted in 2006. It has experienced a slower growing fan base than other social networks, primarily because people don’t understand it. It’s easy to take a brief look at Twitter and regard it as annoying. We’re about to uncover how easy tweeting for profits can really be. This social network has over 200 million users and is used by professional marketers and casual internet bloggers worldwide.

Twitter is all about tweeting. A tweet is anything that you write in 140 characters or less. This keeps people’s content short, sweet, and to the point. You may include a variety and combination of things in your tweets:

- Words: 140 basic character words to say whatever you want

- Links: Include a link to anything you want to follow up your message. Many users use http://bit.ly to shorten their original links to keep a clean look and allow more space in their tweets. The website also allows you to track, manage, and analyze your links. Twitter integrates an automatic link shortening service as well, which shortens your links automatically under a “t.co” URL. None of this affects your original URL tweeted.

- Mentions: Ever seen posts like “Lunch at Bdubs with @ryanbg”? These are mentions, and allow you to tag people in your tweets. Simply use the “@” symbol and start typing a follower’s name. Uses for this can vary, whether you’re simply mentioning a person in your tweet or having a direct conversation with them. It doesn’t post to their profile, but stays on yours. They get the notification and can tweet back accordingly. It’s something that feels more natural after you do it a couple times.

- Hashtags: These are another aspect of Twitter that baffles many. Hashtags (#) can proceed any word in a tweet to help group it to a certain topic or type. For example, if your tweet is about lizards you can end your tweet with #iguanas. This hyperlinks that word in your tweet and allows people who also search that hashtag to see your tweet, even if you’re not following each other. You can include hashtags midsentence in your tweets, or randomly throw them in at the end. They can be multiple words strung together as well, such as “#Caribbeaninguanas”. They’re a great way to attract followers in the same niche!

- Retweets: These are a single tweet of anyone that you follow, simply retweeted by you. People typically do this is they particularly enjoy a tweet or its info pertains to their niche. It’s also a nice way of befriending potential associates, because they can see who has retweeted their tweets. Their tweet appears on your profile, retweeted and with their picture instead of yours. I personally think it’s a great way to add variety to your wall.

- Pictures: Even though you have never seen a picture accompanying a tweet, they are there. You tweet pictures via links through a Twitter service called TwitPics (http://www.twitpic.com). Upload a picture there and create a tweet instantly with it. The link will look something like “twitpic.com/r40f” and lead straight to your picture hosted on TwitPic. This action is much easier to do through mobile devices, which allow this all in one step.

Let’s quickly go over some essentials to tweeting for profits.
Twitter revolves around the principle of followers. People “follow” each other, which is essentially subscribing to their tweets. This creates a personal fan base of yours. When you have followers, every post that you tweet shows up on their timeline when they sign in. The more followers you have, the more people receive your message. Let the network marketing begin.

Many people frequently ask, “How do I get more followers?” There are a variety of ways to do this that we’ll discuss quickly.

- Post interesting, relevant content: If you’re posting things that people find useful, funny, or all of the above, they will follow you in return.

- Allow your profile to be public: If people can freely view your content and enjoy what they see, they will follow you for more in the future. This shouldn’t be a privacy problem if you’re using your profile for business.

- Have a good picture: This can do wonders for you. Having a picture of yourself, preferably smiling, professional, or enjoying yourself, will attract far more followers than any picture of graphics or inanimate objects.

- Have a good personal bio: Your name, picture, and bio are the only things that set you apart from others on a list of followers. You bio should be short and effective. Say what you offer, what you do, your experience, or who you’re looking for.

- Follow people: When you follow someone (a real person), they will generally follow you in return. It’s common Twitter courtesy. Find a niche and begin following people that you want to follow you.

- Use hashtags: If they are relevant to your post and don’t look like overkill, feel free to use a hashtag or two to put you on the map. This will be seen by people relating to those keywords.

- Promote: Mention and promote your Twitter account where you can. Have it be an accompaniment to your title online. “Hi, I’m John Hollywood, and here’s my social networks. Follow me on Twitter.”

Tweeting for profits can be a great network marketing strategy and tool for you online. It’s a very open-ended social network that you can use in a variety of ways. Utilizing it for what you need will help you define a purpose with it. With all things, developing an effective following and fan base can take time and some up-front effort. You can make it all worth your while by doing the fundamentals and tweeting for profits.

Mastering the BUOY Effect

Getting the word out about your website, business, or content can be tough. I would like to introduce a term I learned from Internet Income University called the BUOY Effect. This simple principle will not only make your online goals more focused and powerful, but help set you on the right track for an authoritative online presence.

Picture the internet as an ocean. All content begins at the bottom of the ocean. Each backlink of yours is like a small floating device. Your job is to create backlinks through articles, videos, networks, anchor text, and any other marketing methods to keep adding floating devices to your content. Picture the ocean surface as Google’s top search results page. Every backlink, in whatever form, that you add pointing to your content makes it rise higher and higher towards the surface. It’s that simple. Backlinks make you own more of the internet. When this happens, your content rises to the top.

Send your content to social networks, blogging sites, article sites, video sites, and anything in between. This will put it on other websites, and create powerful backlinks pointing search engines right back to the original source.

On the internet, you don’t get paid for your efforts by time. You get paid on results. The key is consistency. The BUOY Effect is a long-term investment that will keep giving back to you long after you stop using it on a piece of content. It creates free traffic to your content and is not difficult, which is why I recommend it so highly. Mastering the BUOY Effect in your everyday process will give search engines no choice but to rank your content at the top. You are attaching floaties, and they take submerged content in one direction, up!

The BUOY Effect is a free traffic strategy, and any free traffic generation will typically have a fantastic ROI because it never disappears. Paid advertisements are here today and gone tomorrow, but your backlinking and floatie tying is on the internet for good. You could abandon your content and still have a fantastic traffic flow to it, simply because you laid out a solid foundation.

Stay in your business long enough to see your efforts become worthwhile, and you will then have a thorough grasp on residual income and financial freedom. It all rides on mastering the BUOY Effect, and the immense power behind it.
